Glintgarden

Sunlight steers snails to shade.

The idea

You never move a snail. You set round sun mirrors on garden stakes and turn them. Snails dislike the light and crawl away from a beam, all at once, until something stops them. Bring each one to rest in the shade of the leaf that carries its sign.

Two beams crossing on a snail hold it still. Prisms bend the light, sun beetles crawl towards it, and summer showers flood leaves that wait too long. Five chapters, one hundred hand-checked boards, each with a par found by a solver.
