Privacy policy

The short version

Dawnline needs no account. Your favourites, collections, history, the quotes you write, your name if you give one, and your photos stay on your iPhone and iPad. We do not sell data, and the app never asks to track you.

Analytics and crash reports

We use Google's Firebase Analytics to count how Dawnline is used (for example how many quotes are read, whether reminders are on, which theme is chosen) and Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash reports. These carry an app instance identifier, device type and system version. They never carry your name, the text of any quote, anything you type, or your photos. Topics you choose are counted only by broad group, never one by one: choosing a topic about faith or hard days says something personal, so it is not recorded.

Advertising

Without Plus, a sponsored card may appear in the feed: never in your first session, never before your sixteenth quote, at most once every fifteen quotes and six times a day. Ads are served by Google AdMob. Every request is non-personalised: the app never asks to track you and does not read the advertising identifier. AdMob may still process device information to serve, limit and measure ads. In the European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland and some US states, Google's consent form appears before any ad, and Settings, Privacy choices for ads lets you change your answer. Plus turns every ad off.

Purchases

Plus is sold by Apple. We learn only whether Plus is owned on your Apple Account, to unlock it.

Reminders and widgets

Reminders are notifications scheduled on your device. Widgets read your settings from the app on your device. Nothing about either is sent to us.

Photos

If you make a theme from a photo, you choose one picture with the system photo picker; the app never sees the rest of your library. A smaller copy is kept on your device for the theme and deleted with it.

Children

Dawnline is not directed at children under 13 and collects no information knowingly from them.

Your choices

Settings, Clear history empties the list of quotes you have seen. Export a backup gives you your data as a file. Deleting the app removes everything on the device.
