Privacy policy

The short version

Turnsmith needs no account. The colours you enter, your solutions, your timer history and your patterns stay on your iPhone or iPad: every solution is worked out on the device. We do not sell data, and the app never asks to track you.

Game Center

Leaderboards and achievements use Apple's Game Center, only if you turn it on from the Timer tab or Settings. Your Game Center name and the times you submit are shared with other players through Apple. Only times from the app's own timer are submitted.

Analytics and crash reports

We use Google's Firebase Analytics to count how Turnsmith is used (for example which puzzle is solved, how long the solver takes, whether a solution is followed to the end, and which checks find a mistake) and Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash reports. These carry an app instance identifier, device type and system version, never your name, your cube's colours or any note you type.

Advertising

Ads are served by Google AdMob: a banner on the pattern, lesson and statistics lists, an occasional ad after a finished solution, and an optional ad you can choose to watch to unlock a cube design. Ads never appear while you are solving. Every request is non-personalised and limited to content suitable for all ages: the app never asks to track you and does not read the advertising identifier. AdMob may still process device information, such as an approximate location from the network, to serve, limit and measure ads. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, Google's consent form appears before any ad, and Settings has a Privacy choices row to change your answer. Remove Ads turns every ad off, and the ads SDK is then never started.

Purchases

Purchases are handled by Apple. We learn only whether Remove Ads is owned, to switch ads off and unlock every design.

Children

Turnsmith is for everyone and suitable for all ages, which is why its ads are non-personalised and rated for general audiences. It is not directed at children under 13 and collects no information knowingly from them.

Your choices

Game Center can be turned off in Settings at any time. Deleting your timer history is in the Timer's statistics. Deleting the app removes everything it kept on the device.
