Privacy policy

The short version

Wordstone needs no account, and we collect no personal data: no name, no email, nothing you type. Your levels, coins and daily streak stay on your iPhone and iPad, mirrored in your own iCloud. The app contains no analytics service, so we do not receive any record of how you play. We do not sell data, and the app never asks to track you.

Advertising

Ads are served by Google AdMob. A banner may appear on the Home screen and on the result card after a level, and now and then a full-screen ad between levels; no ad ever appears while you play a board. Every ad request is non-personalised and limited to content suitable for all ages: the app never shows the tracking prompt and does not use the advertising identifier for tracking. To serve, cap and measure ads and to prevent fraud, AdMob may still process device information such as the device type, system version, a coarse location derived from the network, an identifier for this app on this device, and how you interact with an ad, plus crash and performance diagnostics of its own code. Google's use of this data is described in its policy at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Consent

In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, Google's consent form appears on the Home screen before any ad is requested, and no ad is requested unless your choice allows it. Where the law asks for it, Settings has a Privacy Choices row that opens the same form, so you can change your answer at any time.

In-house promotion

When no ad is available for the banner space, a small banner for another Nubeo Studio app may show there instead. Tapping it opens that app's App Store page inside Wordstone. Nothing about you is sent to us.

Purchases

Purchases (Remove Ads and coin packs) are handled by Apple through StoreKit. We never see your payment details; the app learns only what was bought, to switch ads off or add coins. Remove Ads turns off the banner and the ads between levels for good.

Game Center

Leaderboards and achievements use Apple's Game Center and are optional. When the home screen opens, the app asks Game Center quietly whether you are already signed in on this device; if you are, your scores and achievements are sent without any tap. If you are not, the app never shows a Game Center sign-in sheet on its own: it waits until you tap the Game Center button. Your Game Center name and your scores are shared with other players through Apple.

iCloud

Your progress is mirrored in your own iCloud key-value storage so your iPhone and iPad agree about your levels, coins and streak. Each install adds a tag to that copy so the coins earned on each device add up correctly. The tag is made from a one-way hash of the identifier Apple gives this app on your device (the identifier for vendor; the identifier itself is never stored or sent), followed by a random part; it cannot be turned back into that identifier, we never see it, and it is not linked to you. It all lives in your Apple account; we cannot read it.

Children

Wordstone is suitable for all ages but is not directed at children under 13, and we collect no personal information knowingly from anyone, children included. Ads are always non-personalised and rated for general audiences.

Deleting your data

Deleting the app removes everything stored on the device. The iCloud copy can be removed in your device's settings: Settings, your name, iCloud, Manage Storage (or Manage Account Storage), Wordstone. We hold no copy of your data on our side, so there is nothing for us to delete; if you have a question, write to us below. Data processed by Google for ads is governed by Google's controls at myadcenter.google.com.

Your choices

You can play without Game Center, decline consent where the consent form appears, change it later with Privacy Choices, and turn ads off with Remove Ads.
